develop an understanding of being present*
Be Proactive rather than Reactive in daily life.
Meditation Practices offer pathways to all of the above.
The aim of the Japanese Meditation Classes is to provide you with practical ways to explore these benefits.
The classes are designed to provide you with a defined space and time to spend quiet time, time for you to be. To let go of the outside world and bring your focus inwards. They are semi guided, and involve both sitting, and standing, combined with contemplation. We work with the elements of single focus meditations, utilising breath, Ki (energy) cultivation and awareness techniques, Precepts, (a way of being).
The classes are about developing an inner quiet that is restorative and calming.
The mind & body connection, grounding and centring, take you out of your head and bring your focus and your awareness back into your body. Our bodies can only be in one place at one time. Connecting to our hara ("belly") reminds us to be present. These days our heads are in a constantly busy state, jumping from one thought to the next with very little time to check in with the rest of who we truly are. During the class we work towards disciplining this mind state via the techniques above and thus create an inner balance.
As a Reiki teacher and practitioner, Vicki understands the thought of meditating can sometimes be a daunting task. Her aim is to create a bridge to the world of meditation and self restoration. The focus is to deepen, balance and connect the mind, body and spirit. The continued practice will bring the results.
This class is experiential and to be tried. The meditation practices are slightly different each time, yet have the same focus. These classes are not about learning lots of different techniques, they about about keeping it simple. Giving you the opportunity to let go and deepen into the practice, thus letting the breath slow, the mind relax as you take the next slow deep breath, and feel the the stillness and the relaxation seep through you.
Please call before the first class. After that, you are welcome on a casual basis.
Each class is run as a complete meditation practice.
